Autism & Neurodiversity
Parent’s Domain is dedicated to supporting autistic and neurodivergent children in ways that honour their individuality, strengths, and lived experiences. Therapy is grounded in respect, connection and empowerment.
Parent’s Domain supports the development of:
Social connection and communication (in all forms)
Friendship and relationship skills
Emotional awareness and regulation
Play and shared play experiences
Playtime support in kindergarten and school settings
Transitions, including the transition to school
Therapy draws on key elements of AutPlay Therapy, Play Therapy, Creative and Expressive Art Therapy, Learn to Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Mindfulness, delivered in a naturalistic, child-led, and neuro-affirming way. Sessions are flexible, playful, and responsive to each child’s unique communication style, interests, and sensory needs.
Parent’s Domain values neurodiversity-affirming practice and aligns therapy with the core principles of AutPlay Therapy:
Strengths-Based and Individualised
Therapy begins by truly seeing the child — identifying what works for them and building on their interests, abilities, and strengths. Each therapeutic journey is individualised rather than driven by rigid expectations or comparisons.
Relationship-Centred
The therapeutic relationship is viewed as a key agent of change. Therapy is grounded in empathy, unconditional positive regard, acceptance, and emotional safety.
Multiple Ways of Communicating
Children communicate in many ways — verbal and non-verbal. All forms of communication are respected, valued, and supported.
Honouring the Child’s Voice
Neurodivergent children are often required to adapt to a neurotypical world. Therapy intentionally creates space for the child’s voice, preferences, boundaries, and autonomy to be heard and respected.
Partnership with Parents and Caregivers
Families play a vital role in therapy. Parent’s Domain takes a family-inclusive approach, recognising that meaningful change happens through collaboration and shared understanding.
Advocacy for Inclusion
Parent’s Domain works collaboratively with educators and key stakeholders to support inclusion, reasonable adjustments, and environments where children feel safe, accepted, and able to thrive.
Therapy Sessions at Parent’s Domain
Therapy sessions are guided by:
Your child’s strengths, interests, and areas of focus
Collaborative goal-setting with regular review
Integration of kindergarten and school supports where appropriate
Parent’s Domain also provides resources and guidance for families and educational settings to support the generalisation of skills across environments. Regular parent and caregiver sessions are offered to ensure a holistic, collaborative, and consistent approach.
“Words can not begin to express the appreciation and gratitude we have for you. Thank you for all your patience, hard work and endless support you have provided our child. Our child has thrived this year and that’s because of you.”
“Annette, I cannot begin to tell you how grateful we are that you came into our lives. You have worked tirelessly, above and beyond to help our child. I don’t even have the words to begin to telling you how thankful we are.”
